Don't give a dog a bone.
Many people are unaware of the dangers of giving dogs cooked bones. Your dog
will probably crunch and swallow the bones but they can be extremely dangerous.
Splinters of bone can become lodged anywhere in the dogs digestive system
causing swelling and vomiting. If a piece of bone becomes lodged, your dog will
become very ill very quickly.
It is true that dogs in the wild eat bones which
provide roughage and minerals such as calcium. However, in a wild situation only
raw bones would be consumed which are softer and less brittle than cooked ones.
But we will never know how many died from swallowing a bone ?
Your
Dog is not a wild dog, The best advice is to avoid bones altogether. Dogs do need to chew, make sure your Dog has a box of
assorted biscuits much safer than bones ! Don't give rawhide products !, these cannot be digested by
Dog's, they will kill !
