(1) Chicken thighs - bought in multi-packs from the supermarket and then
individually frozen at home. When I put the oven on to cook our food, I put
a frozen thigh into a dish with a couple of tablespoons of water and cook
for about half an hour at 200 degrees (or until properly cooked). I then cut
it up and mix it with a small handful of complete dry dog food (for the
crunch factor) and allow to cool. To this can be added uncooked mange tout
or chopped haricots verts or some baked potato skin.
(2) Corned beef hash: tinned lean corned beef and potato in gravy made
with vegetarian gravy granules, casseroled in the oven at around 180 - 200
for half an hour.
(3) The Peking duck and pork yuk shung are cheats. They are respectively
Sainsburys Peking duck which we cook, eat and share with Snowy - and yuk
shung from our local Chinese take away which we are also share with Snowy
(if we want to retain any skin on our legs!) (4)
Occasionally I also give her carrot 'bones' which are peeled sticks of carrot
which she likes to chew and scatter around the carpet but are very effective
teeth cleaners.
Mange tout are (fresh) peas in an edible pod (like sugar peas) - quite sweet
and tender. Most supermarkets sell them.
Haricot verts are those very thin stringy beans - nice and crisp to eat raw.
They also sell them in the supermarket - particularly Sainsburys.
