Potatoes can cause digestive upsets in some dogs. Over-consumption of sugar and sugary foods can encourage bad teeth, diabetes, digestive upsets and obesity.

One of the most popular staple foods in the world, a wide variety of different potatoes is available. They are usually divided into two different types: waxy and floury.

Waxy potatoes hold their shape well when cooked and are best for using in layered potato dishes or for boiling and serving with butter.

Floury potatoes are particularly popular in the UK and are good all rounder's as they are more suitable for chipping, baking, roasting and mashing. But they are no good for boiling as they fall apart during cooking.

Your dog will like a Potato, but like most vegetables the fibre content is broken down by cooking. Boil Potatoes until soft and tender, but only give one small Potato with other vegetables and meat.
